WMAP image of CMBR, March 2006 (NASA) Scientists analyzing data from a NASA
spacecraft said Thursday they have found new evidence that the universe
underwent a sharp expansion in the first trillionth of a second after the Big
Bang. Astronomers used data from the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP)
to study the polarization of the cosmic microwave background, the radiation that
dates back to a few hundred thousand years after the Big Bang. Analysis of
variations in the microwave background have provided additional evidence for the
inflation model of the Big Bang, where the universe expanded tremendously in the
first instant after the Big Bang itself. The study also found that the first
stars formed about 400 million years after the Big Bang, about twice as old as
earlier estimates but more in line with current theories of stellar formation.

Description
This unrivalled, five-volume reference work covers all aspects of geology including earth history, earth materials, surface processes, regional geology, economic geology, engineering geology, petroleum geology, geochemical and mineral exploration, and the history of geology. The techniques of remote sensing and other tools of investigation that have advanced rapidly over the last few decades are described in detail. Encyclopedia of Geology is divided into 340 articles, each covering one aspect of geology. The concepts and theory are explained at a level that allows undergraduates and educated lay people to understand them. The reference has been planned and structured to provide the user with a comprehensive coverage of the core knowledge in each area. It will become the reference of choice for today's geologists and beyond. Also available online via ScienceDirect – featuring extensive browsing, searching, and internal cross-referencing between articles in the work, plus dynamic linking to journal articles and abstract databases, making navigation flexible and easy. For more information, pricing options and availability visit www.info.sciencedirect.com.

"Jesli chodzi o dokonania naukowe Dawkinsa, to zajmuje on katedre "Public Unders
tanding of Science", i jako wykonujacego ten zawod wydaje mi sie warto go oceniac."
zestaw pytan.
Zaden szanujacy sie naukowiec nie bedzie zajmowal sie podwazaniem istnienia
Boga.
niz Jan Pawel II z 1996):
"According to the widely accepted scientific account, the universe erupted 15
billion years ago in an explosion called the 'Big Bang' and has been expanding
and cooling ever since. Later there gradually emerged the conditions necessary
for the formation of atoms, still later the condensation of galaxies and stars,
and about 10 billion years later the formation of planets. In our own solar
system and on earth (formed about 4.5 billion years ago), the conditions have
been favorable to the emergence of life. While there is little consensus among
scientists about how the origin of this first microscopic life is to be
explained, there is general agreement among them that the first organism dwelt
on this planet about 3.5 - 4 billion years ago. Since it has been demonstrated
that all living organisms on earth are genetically related, it is virtually
certain that all living organisms have descended from this first organism.
Converging evidence from many studies in the physical and biological sciences
furnishes mounting support for some theory of evolution to account for the
development and diversification of life on earth, while controversy continues
over the pace and mechanisms of evolution." (paragraph 63, from "Communion and
Stewardship: Human Persons Created in the Image of God," plenary sessions held
in Rome 2000-2002, published July 2004)
innymi slowy za ewolucja stoi Bog, Kosciol zas nie wysila sie aby zdefiniowac
role Boga w definiowaniu ewolucji.
